Story
Legendary Okinawan rock band "Murasaki"
The band was formed in Okinawa in 1970 before its return to Japan, and was led by George Murasaki. They broke new ground in the history of Japanese rock music with the release of their first album in 1976. They became leaders of the music scene at the time after winning first place in the Japanese Group Category of Japanese music magazine "Music Life" in 1977. In 2007, the band reunited with original members JJ and Chris, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020.
With the cancellation of their 50th anniversary concert due to COVID-19, the band went on hiatus. Determined to continue in spite of this, the band members worked on a new album and aimed to perform their commemorative concert a year later.
Members of Murasaki talk about their activities since coming together, the Vietnam war economy, and their excitement at Okinawa returning to the mainland, and many musicians share their thoughts about Murasaki, including LOUDNESS and Hironobu Kageyama, who witnessed their mainland debut, Seikima II and X JAPAN, who were influenced by Murasaki, and BEGIN, who copied Murasaki on Ishigaki Island. This film will screen a premium festival version specially for this festival.
